Established in 1922, The Reserve Officers
Association (ROA) was chartered by Congress in 1950 to support
the development and execution of a military policy providing
this nation with adequate national security. In this role,
ROA has been the leading proponent of the development of a
strong reserve force in each of the uniformed services. Also,
national security reports are published monthly and are available
to members of Congress.
As a note of interest, General of the Armies
John D. "Blackjack" Pershing of World War 1 fame,
and former US President Harry S. Truman were charter members
of this organization.
Membership is available to present or former
warrant officers and commissioned officers of the Armed Forces,
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),
and the US Public Health Service (USPHS). An application for
membership appears on this website.
Although Chapter 8 serves members residing
in Sarasota & Manatee Counties in Florida, other chapters
are located throughout the United States and in some locations
overseas.
